The biggest challenge in replacing conventional plastics is not finding a material described as biodegradable. The real challenge is whether that material can run reliably in mass production.
For injection molders, tableware manufacturers, packaging converters and product developers, the right compound must perform consistently on real equipment. It should support mold filling, moisture management, mechanical strength, toughness, heat resistance, surface quality and dimensional stability.
At ZSS Technology, we develop and supply bamboo-based biodegradable granules based on bamboo powder and bio-based materials. Rather than offering one standard pellet for every project, we work with customers to evaluate formulations according to the product, equipment, mold, manufacturing process and target market.

Our bamboo-based biodegradable granules are pelletized compound materials developed from bamboo powder and bio-based materials. Through compounding and pelletizing, these materials can be evaluated for injection molding, sheet extrusion, thermoforming, heat pressing, blow molding, blown-film extrusion and selected 3D printing material projects.
Bamboo powder is not only a plant-based raw material; it can also influence the color, texture, surface finish, stiffness and processability of the finished product. For example, it can help create natural beige, brown or matte effects. At the same time, particle size, dispersion, moisture level and loading ratio can affect melt flow, molding stability and mechanical performance.
Published composite-material research shows that bamboo powder particle size and loading ratio can significantly affect rheology, thermal behavior and mechanical performance. Finer particles may improve dispersion and reinforcement but raise moisture-management and formulation-control requirements. Coarser particles may create a stronger natural texture but can affect surface quality and mold filling in thin-wall parts.
We can discuss bamboo powder particle size, color, flowability, stiffness, toughness, surface finish and processing compatibility according to project requirements. Our technical references indicate that bamboo powder may be developed within an approximate range of 200–2,000 mesh. The final particle size and formulation should be confirmed based on the customer’s product and manufacturing process.
We do not recommend selecting granules based only on labels such as “PLA,” “PHA,” “bamboo material” or “biodegradable plastic.”
The same material system may perform very differently on different machines, molds and product designs. A compound suitable for thick plates may not run reliably for thin-wall forks. A sheet-grade formulation may not be suitable for injection molding. A film-grade material may not provide the stiffness and dimensional stability required for tableware.

These problems cannot be solved by adjusting temperature alone. Material formulation, bamboo powder size, moisture content, screw shear, mold venting, gate size, wall thickness, cooling conditions and production cycle can all affect the result.
For this reason, we first seek to understand the customer’s product and production conditions before discussing a material direction.

Injection molding, sheet extrusion and blown-film grades are not normally interchangeable. Each process requires formulation confirmation.
