When choosing disposable cups for hot drinks, material strength matters just as much as compostability. A cup may be made from biodegradable materials, but can it maintain its shape and structure when exposed to boiling water?
In this video, ZSS Technology compares its bamboo bio-based disposable cups with cups from another brand under the same hot-water testing conditions.
We poured 100°C boiling water into both types of cups and observed their performance after heating.
The comparison focused on what happened to the cup structure after exposure to high-temperature water.
ZSS Bamboo Bio-Based Cup: The cup remained intact after the hot-water test. No visible structural damage was observed during the demonstration.Other Brand's Cup: After preheating, the cup showed visible damage when squeezed by hand.
The difference was noticeable during this simple side-by-side demonstration.
Disposable cups are commonly used for coffee, tea and other hot beverages. During use, the material needs to maintain sufficient structural stability when exposed to hot liquids.
For distributors, foodservice suppliers and beverage brands, evaluating a cup's performance under actual usage conditions is an important part of supplier selection.
A boiling-water test provides a straightforward way to observe how different cup materials respond to heat.
